Creative photography in small spaces is less about square footage and more about intention. Converting an enclosed trailer into a fully functional mobile photography studio proves that limitations can spark innovation rather than restrict it. Every inch must serve a purpose—walls become backdrop systems, ceilings support compact lighting rigs, storage transforms into seating or prop space, and light is carefully controlled or enhanced. Working within tight dimensions sharpens problem-solving skills, encourages simplified compositions, and pushes you to master light placement and lens choice with precision. The result isn’t just portability—it’s a streamlined, efficient creative environment where adaptability, thoughtful design, and technical control come together to produce polished, professional imagery anywhere the road leads.
Join me for a behind the scenes look at how I created my mobile studio, learn what it takes to create impactful portraits in a small space, and get the opportunity to put your skills to the test in a live demo.

Angela Lawson is an internationally award-winning photographer, Certified Professional Photographer (CPP), and holds both the Photographic Craftsman and Master of Photography degrees through Professional Photographers of America (PPA). She is also a Master of Animal Imagery and an active member of the International Society of Animal Photographers (ISAP).
Angela’s work has been featured in Professional Photographers Magazine, displayed on billboards throughout Michigan, and exhibited at ArtPrize—an internationally recognized open art competition held annually in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her photography journey began in 1996 during the film era, giving her a deep appreciation for the evolution of the industry. Over the years, her business focus has naturally refined, and approximately 15 years ago she began focusing mainly on pet portraiture.
Angela’s background working as a veterinary assistant, serving as a volunteer animal rehabilitation foster for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and volunteering with multiple humane societies and animal rescue organizations has given her a unique and informed perspective on animal behavior. Combined with her lifelong affection for anything with fur, feathers, or scales, she brings both technical skill and genuine understanding to every animal she photographs.
Angela currently serves as a PPA Council Member and previously served on the PPA Certification Committee and as a CPP Liaison for many years. She is a member of Professional Photographers of Michigan and Past President of Professional Photographers of Western Michigan. Within the International Society of Animal Photographers, she holds a seat on the Executive Board and serves on multiple committees.
She has completed the PPA Jurors Workshop and much of the juror preparation process, ultimately choosing to step back due to life circumstances. Today, Angela focuses her energy on mentoring photographers one-on-one and teaching workshops, where she can more directly share her knowledge and experience.
