Peer-To-Peer Education

We are thrilled to offer animal photography workshops all over the place!  All-day workshops jam packed with education offered by working photographers, for working photographers.

During these in-person workshops, instructors will share their knowledge and expertise through offering peer-to-peer education. Expand your knowledge and network by taking part.

We are lucky to have so much talent in ISAP, and this is the opportunity for members to share their expertise with others. This year, ISAPalooza will offer SIX different opportunities for you to learn from different people - in their locations. Different styles, different topics, different experiences, all to help YOU be the best you can be.

Check out the options below, then 0get registered for one (or more!) of the ISAPalooza workshops. PPA members will receive a service merit for each workshop they attend.

ISAPalooza WORKSHOPS:

Saturday, May 23: Learning to Purr: Hands on with Cats with Kim Stephenson

People who don't know cats well often think of them as independent, aloof, mischievous and clever. In truth, like the dog, every cat's personality is unique. Some are shy and timid, some are bold and curious and everything in-between. We will be joined in the studio by several shelter cats and will focus on how to get their attention, handling different kitty personalities and how they are different from dogs. We will be working with studio flash in a couple different set ups. This session is designed for all photographers, whether you are new to working with cats or have for a long time. They always have more to teach us.

Friday, May 29: Denver Zoo Photography and Beginner Animals Photography with Kory Bumgardner

Let's walk around the zoo and see what we see. We will help you with settings on camera. Fun facts about animals and behaviors. We will talk about finding animals in the wild and things I have learned along the way to help you get better shots. We will talk about photographing through glass and fencing. The zoo is a good place to practice a new lens and learn animal names and where they live in the world. We will stop and have lunch that you can bring or buy there, while we eat, we can see what is working for you and what to try differently. Please buy your entrance pass for 10am on May 29th.

Saturday, May 30: Small Space, Big Vision: Crafting Powerful Portraits in Tight Spaces with Angela Lawson

Creative photography in small spaces is less about square footage and more about intention. Converting an enclosed trailer into a fully functional mobile photography studio proves that limitations can spark innovation rather than restrict it. Every inch must serve a purpose—walls become backdrop systems, ceilings support compact lighting rigs, storage transforms into seating or prop space, and light is carefully controlled or enhanced. Working within tight dimensions sharpens problem-solving skills, encourages simplified compositions, and pushes you to master light placement and lens choice with precision. The result isn’t just portability—it’s a streamlined, efficient creative environment where adaptability, thoughtful design, and technical control come together to produce polished, professional imagery anywhere the road leads. Join me for a behind the scenes look at how I created my mobile studio, learn what it takes to create impactful portraits in a small space, and get the opportunity to put your skills to the test in a live demo.
